Emily Fowke              Paintings and Drawings

These paintings respond to time spent on the Isle of Skye in 2018. With these, I've tried to capture something of the magic which came from finding an array of different wild visitors to the beach.

The herons seemed to me very much like the spirits of the place and like something ethereal and regal, and the oyster catchers were so busy at what they were about, and so perfect and ungainly at the same time.

For these paintings I've worked over a couple of months, building glazes and smaller details, still a bit in progress.
