Emily Fowke              Paintings and Drawings

Recently I've tried out working from sketches to make abstract paintings. I aim to work quickly to pinpoint ideas/sensations which I can then paint with oils, not changing the original image much in order to keep the spontaneity of the feeling of it: but enlarging it.

The ideas behind these images are to do with making things - with the sense of possibility from weaving, etc, from the colours of yarns and the timelessness of these things and skills. Also they are inspired by meditation.
